Lois StuartLois Stuart was Madison County Extension's 4-H Aide for 18 years. During that time, she helped start a dairy goat program at the county fair. She was known to have the biggest dairy goat program in Iowa at that time.

Lois believed in the 4-H program. She made projects exciting and fun, attended camp with 4-Hers, and she traditionally cooked biscuits and gravy (using her grandmother's recipe) during yearly Covered Bridge Festival fundraisers. Most importantly, Lois left a legacy of love in Madison County. According to sources, she purposefully reached out to youth who had tragically lost a parent and made sure they enrolled in 4-H. Lois personally mentored these same young people throughout their successful 4-H careers.

Lois was an Iowa 4-H Club member (during the late 1930's-early 1940's) while growing up in rural Madison County. She later served Douglas Wild Rose 4-H Club as a leader for several years.

Madison County Extension and Outreach is proud to nominate Lois Evelyn Stuart to represent our county as Iowa's 4-H Hall of Fame 2020 Inductee. Lois's daughter, Virginia; son, Ralph; and granddaughter, Dawn; will be attending the 4-H Hall of Fame Induction at the Iowa State Fair to receive the honor in her memory.
