Don Broshar was a long time ISU Extension and Outreach staff member serving in several roles during his 35-year tenure with the organization before retiring in 2012. He grew up Centerville, Iowa where his interest and passion for leadership development was first sparked during his years as a 4-H member. He went on to receive degrees from Iowa State University and Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State University). 

Don started his work with Extension as the County Extension Director in Appanoose County. He then transitioned to campus-based positions first in 4-H youth development and then extension wide including Youth Development Specialist, Community Leadership Development Specialist, Organization Development Specialist, and finally Director of Extension and Outreach Human Resources. Don’s longtime career in extension/4-H youth development established him as a well-known leader and trainer for positive youth development for youth workers and leadership development.

Don lived in Slater with his wife Diana and they have four adult children. Outside of his professional career, Don also volunteered with Youth Shelter Services for many years, serving on the board of directors for 28 years. He also served on the Slater Library Board and the Ballard Community School Board.
