Chuck Bogaard and his wife, Donna, were owners of Leighton Processed Meats for many years.  In that time, Chuck hosted the annual 4-H Carcass Contest where 4-H and FFA exhibitors would bring cattle in to be processed and Extension staff would work with the locker to evaluate the meat and provide an educational overview of the overall results of the contest.  Chuck Bogaard

Many 4-H families enjoyed going into the locker to visit with Chuck and his staff, and he was always willing to provide information and answer questions with a smile on his face. In the early 2000s, Chuck retired and sold the locker.

Throughout his children’s years in 4-H, Chuck served as a 4-H club leader for 10 years and provided numerous educational experiences for the young men in his club. He was active at the Southern Iowa Fair in Oskaloosa and donated some of the meat for the 4-H BBQ at the fair for many years. While enjoying watching his club members and own children exhibit at the county fair, he also enjoyed bringing his own tractors to the county fair.
