Mike Allen joined 4-H in 1959 when he was 10 years old. He stayed active all through high school until he graduated. He showed cattle at the Clarke County Fair and also showed in 4-H shows at the Iowa State fair in Des Moines and AKSARBEN. Mike grew up in Clarke County and still lives there today. Mike Allen

Mike was on the Clarke County Fair Board for 15+ years, serving as president for 5 years. In 2004, Clarke County Fairgrounds moved the fair facilities to a new location. Mike played a huge part in helping with this transition. He spent many hours fundraising and completing paperwork for grants to help fund the project. He also assisted with the design of the project.

When Mike’s kids were involved with 4-H, he enjoyed helping them with their projects. After his kids were out of school, he still stayed involved by helping other families and kids with their 4-H projects and getting kids involved in joining 4-H. He would help kids by going with them to purchase animals, teaching them how to feed their animals, and even would give the kids a place to keep their animals if needed. More than 60 years later and he’s still involved in 4-H and helping kids.

Thank you, Mike, for all you’ve done for Clarke County 4-H and the kids!
