Roland and Bette Petersen are life-long supporters of 4-H, the club show, the Pork Producers, Porkettes and Cattlemen.Roland and Bette Petersen

Growing up, Roland was a member of the Miles Baby Beef 4-H Club exhibiting beef projects.  Roland was a leader of this same club from 1970-1976 while his kids were members.

Bette was also a 4-H member of the Elk River Lucky Stars 4-H Club.  She began volunteering in many aspects of rural life in Clinton County when she married Roland.  Bette served on the Porkettes Board during the 1970's and was also a member of the Clinton County Cowbelles. She served on the Youth Committee from 1975-1985. She was active on the fashion revue committee, helping with entries, judging and the style show. She spent many years on the committee with Florence McCulloh, Carol Gruhn, LuAnn Farrell and Helen Reimers.

Roland and Bette were named Master Farmers by the Wallace's Farmer magazine in 1984. Roland was named the Master Iowa Pork Producer in 1976.

They are parents of three children, Mark (Patty) Petersen from Clinton, Marsha (Paul) Puckett of Goose Lake, Michelle (Dan) Matheson of Aberdeen, South Dakota.  Roland and Bette are members of the Andover Lutheran Church.

The Petersen children were active in 4-H as well as the Puckett grandchildren, Rachel and Brooke, who still enjoy showing cattle.

Roland still is a member of the Clinton County Cattlemen and the Iowa Soybean Association.

As we look back, Roland and Bette volunteered for a period of over 25 years in the areas of 4-H, club show, youth committee, Pork Producers, Porkettes and Cowbelles and Cattlemen in Clinton County.
