Although Donna Jensen was only a 4-H member for two years in Palo Alto County, Iowa, she has continued to stay involved in the 4-H program for many years after her participation.  She remained involved in 4-H when her two children were members of the program. Donna served as a leader for the Don Mark Happy Moments 4-H Club back in the 80’s.  For many years, she has served as a judge’s assistant at the Emmet County Fair as well as assisting with the poultry project.  She currently serves on the 4-H Small Animal Committee in Emmet County. Donna Jensen

Donna feels one of her greatest contributions to the 4-H program in Emmet County is sharing her knowledge of raising broilers by assisting with the poultry project.  She has 40 years of experience raising broilers.  She also feels a great contribution of hers is being a supporter of the Emmet County Fair and 4-H committees through her years of serving and volunteering.

Donna enjoys seeing youth in Emmet County grow as individuals through the 4-H program and witnessing 4-H’ers who genuinely share with and care for one another.  Donna says, “I enjoy seeing families work and play together as well as share heart break together.  4-H teaches so many things: good sportsmanship, helping others and development of friendships along with responsibility of caring for and finishing projects and exhibits.  4-H makes GREAT Americans.”

Beyond the 4-H program, Donna is the president of the Emmet County American Legion Auxiliary in which she helps prepare and serve lunch to the public at the Ringsted Community Center on Mondays and participates in the blue jean quilt project for homeless veterans.  She is also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger where she lectors and serves on the funeral committee.  Donna gives a STEM scholarship each year to a graduating senior of the North Union High School in honor of her late husband, Don Jensen.

In addition, Donna is a member of the Emmet County Quilts of Valor, Avera Hospice volunteer and belongs to a local 500 Card Club in Ringsted.  Donna also helps serve a Christmas dinner at the Ringsted Community Center to mentally challenged individuals in Emmet County and Fairmont, Minnesota.
