Duane AsbeDuane Asbe was a 4-H Leader that made a positive impact in many young lives by his qualities of integrity, honesty, trust and being a leader in the community.

Duane Asbe was a highly qualified leader.  He was a strong mentor with his positive attitude and desire to share his God-given talents, gifts and experiences with his 4-H members, developing them into productive young people.  Craig Christians, a former 4-H member says, “I contribute a part of my success today to being involved in the 4-H program and the influence by example that my 4-H leaders made in my life as a young member.”

Duane has made many contributions to the 4-H program in Wright County.

  • Nine (9) year member of the Norway Ramblers 4-H club showing swine as his 4-H project
  • 4-H leader for eleven (11) years for the Norway Ramblers 4-H club
  • Served 2 three (3) year terms on the Wright County 4-H and Youth Committee of which he was president for three ( 3) years
  • Served a six (6) year term on the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees
  • Annual financial donor to the Iowa 4-H Foundation
  • Coached the Norway Ramblers 4-H Club’s 4-H softball team for a number of years
  • Co-Chaired the Wright County Fair Show arena’s Capital Campaign Committee in which the campaign raised in excess $500,000.00 to build the new show arena

Duane continues to bring value to his community in his leadership role in the Clarion Iowa community.

  • Has been part of the Wright County Charitable Foundation since it originated in 2004
  • Wright Medical Foundation Board member (Iowa Specialty Hospital) nearly thirty (30) years
  • Co-Chaired the Meadows Assisted Living (Iowa Specialty Hospital) Capital Campaign in Clarion for the purpose of a new Assisted Living facility
  • Co-Chaired the Clarion Public Library renovation project’s capital campaign
  • Co-Chaired the Clarion Movie Theatre renovation project’s capital campaign
  • Longtime member of the Clarion Lions Club
  • Longtime Wright County Hospice volunteer
  • Serving his second four (4) year term on the Clarion City Council
  • Active member of the First Lutheran Church in Clarion

Craig Christians a former 4-H member states, “My 4-H Leader Duane Asbe was a positive example, leader & mentor that I am blessed to still call my friend today. He has been a great contributor and supporter of the 4-H program.”
