Chris and Shannon Knapp

Chris joined the Jackson Beavers 4-H Club as soon as he was old enough, where he held several club offices and served on county council. Chris exhibited cattle all years that he was active. Shannon was active in 4-H in Wisconsin, Wyoming and Iowa. She joined 4-H in 5th grade and stayed active until graduating high school. Shannon took projects in cooking, canning, sewing, art, photography, rabbits, and community service. She was also involved in the 4-H softball league and drama competitions.

Chris served first as the assistant beef superintendent and then later the beef superintendent. He was the Bremer County Fair Association General Manager for 13 years, and has been on the fair board for 15 years; during which he has also served as vice president, secretary and open beef show superintendent. Shannon also served as the Secretary of the Bremer County Fair Association for 2 years. Throughout their service with the fair, Chris and Shannon helped maintain the fair’s focus on the youth in the county.

All four of ChrChris and Shannon Knapp receiving awardis and Shannon’s kids were/are active in 4-H, with memberships from 2002 through the present. During that time they have been extremely involved in helping with projects and activities. Their children – M’Lynn, Erica, Alecia, and Brody – had projects and exhibited in beef, crops, dog, photography, visual arts, woodworking, food and nutrition, vet science, citizenship, sewing, horticulture, home improvement, and family heritage.  Chris served as a leader of the Tri-Rivers Trendsetters 4-H club for 2 years. Chris received the 2008 Bremer County 4-H Alumni Award, and in 2009 the Knapp Family received the Family Volunteer Award.
