Glenn Werning has been a 4-H parent, a 4-H supporter and a 4-H volunteer.  His many contributions have included running the scale at beef weigh-in during snowy and bitter cold weather and as an announcer for the cattle shows including the Beef Barnyard Babies and the Dairy Kiddie Cattle Kapers.

Glenn began hosting the Dairy Kiddie Cattle Kappers and the Beef Barnyard Babies 15 years ago.  It is a tradition that many families have, as their youngster comes to the arena with a young calf and talks with Glenn in front of the crowd.  He talks to every 3 to 9 year old child that brings a calf into the arena and he truly enjoys every minute of it!  He enjoys talking with the children so they can get involved in various activities that are available to them to better themselves and meet other youth.

In addition, Glenn helped begin the Benton County Fair Queen Contest 14 years ago when he felt that Benton County should be represented at the Iowa State Fair in this opportunity.

Benton County has been truly blessed to have Glenn as a tremendous supporter of the 4-H Program and all youth programs as well as a dedicated volunteer that supports and believes in the youth in Benton County.
