Rose began her involvement in 4-H as a Black Hawk County 7 year member in the Orange Blossoms 4-H Club..  She became 4-H leader for the Bright Eagles 4-H Club for 3 years and for the past 32 years has been the Horse and Pony Project leader and Fair Superintendent.

Rose received the Black Hawk County Alumni Award in 1973.  She has been a member of the Black Hawk County 4-H & FFA Fair Board for the past 32 years.  When asked what she likes to do in her spare time, she said play cards, but when you have had horses for over 60 years and work with about 30 youth each year, that doesn’t leave much time.  She lives on a Century Farm and the combined years involved by the family in 4-H by family members is well over 100 years.  Life skills are an important part of what she has shared with all of the youth.  She has 3 daughters Jacque, Jill, and Jayne that were 4-H’ers for 9 years each.  Nine grand children have all been in 4-H.
