Glen B. AndersonGlen B. Anderson was a Buena Vista County 4-H member who went on to work for Iowa State University Extension for 29 years.  Nineteen of those years (1970 – 1989) were in Boone County as Extension Director (his job title) and 4-H youth supporter (his passion.)

Glen supported 4-H leaders, clubs, members, staff, parents, and agriculture and livestock programs with his leadership and networking.

While serving as Boone County Fair secretary, Glen’s financial planning skills made it possible to improve the Boone County Fairgrounds including a 4-H foodstand, horse arena, and livestock barns.

Glen worked closely with community organizations including the Lions, cattlemen, and pork producers and involved the members of those organizations with 4-H youth.

Glen started the Fran Thompson Outstanding Leader Award in Boone County as a memorial to his long time office assistant and friend.  His skills at money management made possible 4-H awards for outstanding members, Citizenship Washington Focus participation by many 4-H’ers, and 4-H camp scholarships.

In their retirement, Glen and his wife, Carma, live in Mesa, Arizona, during the winter months, at a cabin of West Okoboji in the summer and enjoy spending time with their two sons and grandchildren.
