2004 Marshall County - Dan and Sarah BeaneDan and Sarah Beane represent all the qualities that we would like to see in our youth when they grow up.   Sarah was a 4-H Club Leader of the Marion Merry Maids and Dan was the assistant 4-H club leader of the Marshall County Mounties for two years before taking over the leader role, which he served for fourteen years. Both Dan and Sarah have helped with comment writing at the county fair. Their children Heidi and Douglas were both eight year 4-H members.

Sarah’s training in physical therapy and Dan’s Agriculture Education degree have taken them around the world to teach and work. Sarah worked six years in a civilian hospital in Vietnam and Dan was a school teacher in Kenya, East Africa for four years. They have hosted youth work teams to Tanzania, Kenya and Belize and family work teams to Bolivia. They have hosted numerous foreign visitors and exchange students from around the world.  Both Sarah and Dan are on the boards of a number of agricultural, professional and church related organizations. The Beanes’ commitment to youth, their church, their community, and their world qualifies them to be Marshall County’s 4-H Hall of Fame inductees for 2004.
