Arnold and Marie Harris of Boone have financially sponsored an outstanding 4-H member award for eight intermediate-age 4-H’ers each year for 32 years, honoring a total of 256 youth. This award is especially appreciated because it recognizes the accomplishments of the 4-H’ers and encourages the youth to stay involved in 4-H as they have more opportunities with high school activities and employment which may take their time. Arnie was a 4-H club leader and swine judge.
The couple’s three children were active 4-H members and credit 4-H with developing many of the skills they have used in their professional careers as a college professor/researcher, veterinarian, and financial officer.
