In Jones County, Joe Legg’s name is almost synonymous with the Extension Service and 4-H.  Joe served as the Jones County Extension Director from 1950 to 1986.  During those 36 years, Joe played a major role in developing and strengthening the 4-H program in the Jones County.  His knowledge of the agricultural community in Jones County was invaluable when it came to providing opportunities for local youth.  From livestock judging to leadership training, Joe Legg had an effect on the success of many 4-H careers and literally served multiple generations of 4-H families.

Many improvements to the 4-H facilities at the Great Jones County Fair were also initiated during his tenure.  Residents of Jones County truly appreciated the many years of dedicated service that Joe Legg provided to the youth and families that were involved in 4-H.
