Mildred was a charter 4-H member in Ell Township in Hancock County1926. In 1927 she was a State 4-H officer serving in the role of Historian. Mildred became a 4-H leader for clubs in Hancock and Cerro Gordo Counties.
Mildred believes 4-H teaches young people many valuable communications skills and how to conduct business meetings. She credits many of her life-long friendships to 4-H.
